Like the reading of Tarot cards, the spreading of the runes, or the touch of a Ouija board, The Oracle Book offers immediate responses to seekers' questions. Written by In Style magazine's savvy astrologer Georgia Routsis Savas, this immediate form of divination is called bibliomancy--the art of foretelling the future using books. The idea is for readers to first ask a yes-or-no question (the clearer the question, the clearer the response). Then readers run their thumbs over the edge of the pages of the Oracle Book until they sense their thumb has landed on the right spot. Finally, they open the page. The answer appears in a two-page spread and could come from any number of divination sources, including Tarot, astrology, dice, and even tea leaves. For example, it might read, "Libra, the sign of the scales, or balance, counsels you to consider another's feelings. Or, "The Crystal ball depicts an empty purse; don't be greedy." Introduction
"What should I do?" is a question that just about every living, breathing human being has asked at some point in his or her life. Some folks ask family and friends for advice, others seek guidance from a therapist, still others call upon a psychic or astrologer to illuminate the situation. No matter the method used in this world of I-wanted-it-yesterday, people want their answers delivered quickly.
There are hundreds, if not thousands, of divination techniques available that give pretty near instant answers. They range from the familiar, like Crystallomancy (using a crystal ball), to the more obscure, like Capnomancy (the study of smoke rising from a fire). By using The Oracle Book you'll be practicing a form of Bibliomancy -- the answering of a question by means of randomly choosing a word or passage from a book.
Though the Bible was historically the book of choice for Bibliomancy, people have also used ancient Greek epics, poetry or Shakespearean works. Many believe Bibliomancy is the Western world's answer to the I Ching: The Book of Questions, a divination system developed by the Chinese over four thousand years ago. When people consult the I Ching, they throw yarrow stalks or coins and interpret the way in which they fall as the answer to their question.
Nowadays, most people don't have yarrow stalks handy, or much patience to decipher cryptic messages. That's where The Oracle Book comes in. This handy do-it-yourself divination tool takes its name from the oracles of ancient Greece -- these were humans who acted as divine intermediaries, delivering messages from the gods to their earthbound peers. But the term "oracle" can also refer to the message itself, a magical glimpse into the future, and that's how it's used here. The Oracle Book brings together a wealth of predictions drawn from a variety of ancient and modern divination techniques. Within these pages are predictions drawn from astrology, tarot cards, tea leaves, playing cards, dice, the crystal ball, palmistry and psychic wisdom.
In order to get started, first you're going to have to check your logic at the door and rely on your intuition. The truth is that Bibliomancy and other forms of divination aren't really about predicting the future. They are tools that can help guide you to the answer that already lies deep inside yourself. The answer you pick is determined by the exact moment you, and only you, decide to stop flipping through The Oracle Book. Somehow, the page with the "right" answer just beckons you to stop.
There are some lucky people who already possess finely tuned intuitive skills. They're the ones who always seem to be in the right place at the right time. A true Mystery Book

This is not so much a book as it is a divination tool. In fact, it is probably one of the easiest systems of divination to use- you simply concentrate on a "yes or no" question and thumb the pages until your intuition tells you to open it. There you will find your answer- and a little bit more.
Over the years I have used several divination systems (Tarot, I Ching, the Runes, and a couple more) but I was always curious about bibliomancy. It appears to be a form of "controlled synchronicity" as valid as any of the others- though limited to the degree of information that it can impart.
The book itself is a high quality artifact. You would swear that it is antique leather bound volume at first examination. It is a thick volume, but since it lacks page numbers, I cannot say exactly how thick. I know that people can't seem to keep their hands off of it, so it would probably make a great gift. An entertaining gesture might be to send it to a friend anonymously, to add a little mystery to their lives.

Thumb through your intuitions!

Superstitious though it may appear, this is a highly practical and useful guide to highlighting and solving whatever issue you have in mind. Not only does it help you clarify your issue by forcing it into the form of a YES/NO question, it suggests a viewpoint from which it could/should be examined. The wordings on the page you randomly and instinctively choose do neither clearly nor directly indicate THE answer, however, suggests you a way to look at/deal with your issue. With this in mind, you will go back to yourself to ponder untill what is said makes sense within you. Highly reliable in that it concludes that the answer lies in you, nowhere else but within yourself. You will go back to this book again and again, every time you wish to confront your deeper thoughts and hidden intuitions. Recommended!!
